Dr. Alagón is a professor at the Institute of Biotechnology at the Cuernavaca campus of the Autonomous National University of Mexico (UNAM). Together with Drs. Leslie Boyer and Marlys Witte, he is a co-founder of the Panamerican Lymphotoxinology Taskforce, the major scientific collaboration of VIPER's US-Mexico Alliance. His research includes development of antivenoms active against venoms of scorpions, spiders, snakes and lizards. Dr. Alagón is a recipient of the Premio Nacional, Mexico's highest civilian honor, in recognition of his work in applied bioscience.
